'Case you didn’t know, Superman first appeared in Action Comics #1, issued in 1938. The reprinted story is HERE, which lacks the interesting little color-tone dots of the original; oh well.

Writer-artist Kerry Callen did an edit / riff on the cover (above) as part of his amusing Super Antics series. His stuff is just about the funnest 3rd-party edits / parodies of DC-Marvel stuff I’ve ever seen. Outside of Peter Bagge, maybe.

In related news, the most expensive comic book sale of all time was indeed Action Comics #1, with a 9.0-graded issue selling for US$15m earlier this year. (more info at the WP link up top)
