We’ve been trying to make things work, and some days it feels easier than others. But lately, it feels almost impossible. The constant misunderstandings, the short tempers, the emotional exhaustion, it all starts to take a toll. We’re both trying, yet somehow we keep finding ourselves in the same place, feeling drained and disconnected. How do you make things work when even trying starts to feel exhausting?

The most important things have already been said. May I ask how long you two have been a couple before marriage? My wife and I have been together for nine years before marrying last year. And the only difference in our relationship has been that we now need to remember to say our combined last name instead of the ones we had before the wedding. That is to ask, do you think the issues are marriage-specific or could it be that these are things that would have surfaced in due time anyway?

Or is there maybe an external stressor that just results in (hopefully unwanted) lashing out at each other? My wife just chimed in how her job is currently very stressful and that’s why she also has a short temper at home sometimes.
