So many people assume Steam is just a store front with social features, even people who argue in support of Steam. But it has so many features that earn Valve $0 and yet are included and improved upon.
This is what [purely] profit driven companies like Epic, EA and Ubisoft can’t understand. Why don’t users flock to their system? They have all the same money making capabilities. Even social features are about networking effect to bring users over. But remote play? How do you justify that to investors?
As a rimworld fan, it’s wild to me the lack of mod tools is so far down on the list. Steam Workshop is an incredible resource for gaming, and it’s the #1 reason I use steam over anything else. Epic is continuing their foot-shooting obsession by being so steadfastly against it.
Yeah even fucking Xbox have had a built in LFG system for over a decade. I’d say Epic only views a launcher as a tool for data and revenue collection but considering how many years it took them to make a shopping cart function I can’t even claim that. They are just fully inept at absolutely everything.

Its a lack of everything. Epic isn’t just far behind they are in the Mariana Trench.
