Well, to quote some modern poetry…
Fuck, fuck, fuck the police
Oh poor poor babies…

Now you get how John\Jane Q Citizen feels… I hate to say this but nothing will change until a stalker cop uses flock to find an ex and kill them.
Imagine a network of these around town on private property, with open online access. Is there anything that would make that illegal? I feel like we could crowd source this
In the US at least some towns and states have laws against private citizens placing cameras in a way that can document public roads or adjacent private properties. This is definitely one of those things that’s enough of a gray area that it wouldn’t take much for it to get gummed up in the bureaucracy of your locality.
No. Please no.
That’s basically the idea of the ring ad for tracking lost dogs, but in this case it would be everybody having access.
To be fair if ALPRs are gonna be forced down people’s throats and efforts to remove them will be foiled by the government, then it seems fair to democratize it and let everyone have equal access to footage at least. It’ll help even the surveillance playing field and might be used to keep some powerful people in check at the very least.
I don’t want these breaches of the 4th Amendment but until they’re made illegal you might as well make some lemonade out of those lemons.
Ah fair point- maybe the only part with public access could be searchability of police vehicles? Idk it’d probly be ripe for hacking and abuse no matter what
Axon and Motorola are replacing them.
