Like the title indicates, I want to try out something new for this community: a (more or less) monthly thread where we can just write what we think.
This can be about something you want to share but did not find a fitting place for it, general chatting about whatever, or feedback about this community.

Hey there, I’m actually quite tired, still recovering from the party I did last week-end. Other than that, I’m eager for what’s to come during this incoming week, and I’m already starting to plan the different event I plan on attending.

I’m gonna try to attend a furry meetup this week, I don’t know yet if I’ll share photos about it or not. But one thing that I’m happy about is that one of my non-furry friend also wanna come with me just to see how it goes and what happen to them. So I’ll probably be draging him with me as this will also be the first furry meet up I’m gonna attend (outside of a convention of course).

Before the next year, I also plan on attending a general convention, there’ll be a furry association to it, so I hope I’ll be able to meet some new local fur.

I also keep procrastinating making my website, so wish me luck to finish it soon. I recently did a few renders that I’ll publish soon in c/fur3d@pawb.social, and I need a bit of motivation to do art. I don’t need at the moment to ask for people to share me their refsheet, cause I need to finish a few stickers that are in kemono style, but I’ll probably need that once finish (unless I decide to make some stickers for Nadnoi).

On some other note, I’m happy to say that my friends are doing the switch from Winslop to Linux, after multiple years of me spreading propaganda telling them how bad Winslop is and them also feeling it. One of my closest friend did chose to use PikaOS, another one installed Debian and started creating the OS from this base, I chose to use ZorinOS on my more professional / academic laptop while still being on a debloated Winslop while the main apps I’m using are being available on Linux (most of them are now Linux compatible), I’m yet still waiting to see how it runs on Arch cause that’s what I’ll be using.

While I’m speaking about Linux, I can talk about hardware too : I recently saw that some economist are predicting the crash of hardware prices by the end of 2027 and expecting the AI bubble to pop out during the same year. The reason for that is that open-source LLM are getting increasingly good and optimised to run on people’s hardware (mainly GPU you have in your computer and also some recent CPU), some associations are also starting to encourage gouvernements to take actions in order to limit the price of hardware so people can still maintain and buy computers (especially important when things now require you to have a computer). So I’m happy to know that next year I’ll finally be able to upgrade the RAM and the storage of my laptop.

Another that is plan for soon is me starting to share photos. I take a lot of photos, and some furries in my local area are saying that even if taken with a phone, I could still share them. I don’t want to call myself a photograph because I yet don’t have a camera, but in some way, if people like how my photos are (which I’m surprise they do) why not share some of them. Maybe will it speeds up the process of me getting a camera (will not cause it still cost money).

      This sounds nice ^^

Good luck with your website :D

Great! The downfall of Windows accelerates and maybe other proprietary software will follow.

[…] Arch cause that’s what I’ll be using

You use Arch btw. Noted :p

I recently saw that some economist are predicting the crash of hardware prices by the end of 2027 […]

Maybe I can upgrade my SSD too then. I hope all this AI BS will burn brightly.

Another that is plan for soon is me starting to share photos […]

I’m looking forward to it :)

Thank you for writing such a long response. I appreciate the engagement.

I didn’t mean to say this week cause there’s no event this week but in the incoming weeks there’s around three meet up that I can go to if I really want to (I won’t go to all three lel).

I don’t use Arch yet, I’m only on Debian at the moment, but I used Arch and I’ll use Arch (cause that’s basically what I prefered).

Yup, the AI thing is annoying, they should all make open-source LLM models so it’s not a proprietary thing anymore and so they can’t generate profit on it rather than making it serves humanity purpose.

Well, if you do it now it sure won’t cost as much as what it will next month, but it’s probably gonna be more than by the end of 2027. Also, I need to remind that it’s just predictions, so it might not actually be the case as we can’t know the future.

Same, I’m expecting to buy a camera soon enough.

No problem, it’s a great idea I think to do something like this. It kind of bring the YouTube checkpoint vibe in this community.
