That’s a good point. I didn’t experience anything like that while growing up - my dad had a car but we never went on road trips, and my mum never learnt to drive. We lived in the inner suburbs in Melbourne so I didn’t really have a reason to drive anywhere in day-to-day life when I could just take a train, tram, or bus. I didn’t even learn to drive until I was 26, after moving to the USA.
