Three Ancestors are returned from Carlisle

Tribal members welcome back the three of their ancestors that died while attending Carlisle Indian Industrial School a federally funded boarding school for Native American and Indigenous children.

The Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes sent a delegation to the Carlisle Indian Industrial School to bring the children home that died and were buried at the cemetery. The work to bring home the remains of Christine Redstone, Peter Howe and Richard Morgan began two decades ago.

Documentary brings Anishinaabe stories from Michigan repatriation

Filmmakers Adam and Zack Khalil follow the work of the Michigan Anishinaabek Cultural Preservation and Repatriation Alliance as it connects the present to the past. “Aanikoobijigan [ancestor/great-grandparent/great-grandchild]” will air on the PBS series “Independent Lens” next year.

Border Wall Threatens Tribe’s Way Of Life

The Trump administration has recently begun pre-construction activities on the Tohono O’odham nation despite the nation making it known they do not want it.

Tohono O’odham Chairman Verlos Jose said it threatens the tribe’s way of life and its member’s accessibility to key services like Indian Health Services.
