        artists really need to get their money from concerts anyway.

        thats why i always bootleg their live performances too, to support them.

          seriously tho, the fact that modern groups mainly profit from merch, rather than from the actual main product of their artistic efforts will never stop being a tragedy in my book.

            this has been going on since Elvis his times, to them the Elvis / Colonel story was just a good lesson: Get them started with a debt, have them very eager to sign and work them to death doing live shows.

            It still works, just look at what they did to Michael Jackson.
