Backlash continues to target the filmmakers of “Naza,” as protests erupted in Savyon, central Israel over the documentary’s portrayal of Israeli soldiers. In a video posted on X on Wednesday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decried the film as “antisemitic incitement” and vowed to introduce a bill that would strip Israeli citizenship from anyone who “slanders” Israeli soldiers. “NAZA,” directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, uses anonymous testimonies from 24 Israeli soldiers and intelligence officers to present that civilian casualties are routinely factored into targeting decisions in Gaza. Israel’s military chief of staff called the film’s claims “blood libel,” and Israel’s culture minister says he has been asked to investigate the filmmakers for possible treason. Protestors are even calling for the execution of the film’s creators.
