I went to see Sammy Rae & the Friends (great jazz pop band from Brooklyn), and nearly everybody was dressed in 1970s costumes! I understand at a metal show people wear black, but this was next level, very maximalist and intricate costumes. Are concerts all costume parties now, or this unique?
That sounds awesome. I continue to attend the same emo shows I did in 2007 and the dress style hasn’t changed significantly, but I doubt my experience is representative of the norms across other genres! I passed a line of people waiting to enter a local stage production recently and everyone was dressed in 20s gear. Looked like a fun excuse to dress up.
