Iran accused the European Union of hypocrisy on Saturday, after the bloc imposed sanctions on six Iranian citizens over ‘human rights violations’, while Tehran argued that Brussels has failed to condemn war crimes by the United States and Israel.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bagaei, in a post on the social media platform X, directly questioned how the EU could reconcile its professed human-rights commitment with providing logistical and technical backing for lethal aggressions deliberately targeting Iranian civilians and critical infrastructure. His remarks were addressed to EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.

Bagaei further criticized Brussels for, in his view, refusing to denounce “the most blatant war crimes” and for showing no solidarity with Iranian children killed by U.S. and Israeli bombs and missiles. He concluded that this represented not merely a loss of credibility, but “the banality of evil and the purest form of hypocrisy.”
