Their view makes a lot of sense and it has to be explained properly to people. (I’m no fan of Putin’s Russia but the war would have not commenced if NATO & co had not been threatening Russia’s borders for a long time before the war with Ukraine started. Russia kept warning and warning to stop the threatening behaviour but they kept on.)
The Greens back the provision of
“basic humanitarian and civil assistance” to Ukraine, and support for anti-corruption efforts, but the party opposes global weapons transfers as a matter of principle.
The party would support providing military aid to Ukraine if it were backed by a United Nations Security Council resolution, he [Shoebridge] said, but Russia would use its veto power on the council to block any such move.

So whether he supports Ukraine with military aid depends entirely on whether Ukraine’s direct opponent and the aggressor, Russia, decides to support it too? Genius logic!
It’s not his logic, it’s the party’s policy in relation to the UN Security Council. The party will only provide military aid to Ukraine (or any other country) if it is backed by the UNSC.
