I make these shiny objects out of rocks I collect, dichroic glass, and solid glass bricks. It’s a really laborious but also meditative process.
Lapidary work is fun and rewarding, but if you decide to give it a try be sure to wear a respirator, silicosis will mess you up.


Thanks! I’m in Oregon, so there are all kinds of cool rocks. A lot of them I’ve found myself or bought at rock shows, garage sale, etc.
To make them, I cut the rock for the base and grind it flat. I then use uv resin to attach a layer of dichroic glass to a glass brick, and then a 2 part epoxy to attack the rock to the glass. I then use a tile saw to cut everything into the rough shape I want. From there it’s just a matter of going up through the various grits of polishing disks until it’s nice and shiny.
