No. The west definitely needs to support Ukraine and cause lasting damage to Russia to punish it for aggression. This is critical for world stability. But we do need to figure out some sort of off ramp that lets Russia spin it in a way to save face. It’s not like Nazi germany or japan - we’re not going to get an unconditional surrender. And we don’t want to put Russia in such a hole that a Hitler-type leader can take over with populist revenge. I hope Ukranians can push Russia out of Ukraine and establish a wide buffer zone. Then Russia somehow needs to accept it and want peace maybe with the prospect of full sanctions relief, and even financial support.
I agree with you, the war only ends if Putin can spin the narrative of a Russian victory, which he will certainly do. This is most likely “if this would have been only a war against Ukraine, we would have easily won (within 3 days), but we had to fight the collective West™”
