I once replaced an old job’s bullshit complicated nav with a massively simplified, JavaScript-less, visually and functionally identical solution using CSS grid… and my PR was shot down because nobody else wanted to learn grid. It took me about 15 minutes of reading to learn what I needed to know about grid to build that.

What kind of bullshit is that? Grid is as foundational as flexbox for layouts.

    Beautiful 😌

I think design is really cool but hate where it’s gone, part of me wants to learn webdesign so I can try making something aesthetically beautiful and interesting by modern sensibilities, but using nothing but HTML and CSS cause I think it’d be a fun limitation

Not really the same thing as this site, but they feel related in spirit

it in fact reads like someone whose opinion on AI would be “We already have tools that do almost all the things AI does but better, and without any of the downsides. Also, you know AI isn’t free, right? The tokens are expensive and the whole business is likely to collapse in on itself within the decade.”

That’s what surprised me: it felt like AI while coming from someone who should hate AI… But I may be wrong. I hate the fact that I now see AI everywhere.
