        A piece of metal heats up in both.

        One melts, the other activates an electromagnet disconnecting the line, like the melted metal.

        Material wise, they both have the same parts, one just has more.

        Some fuses even have gunpowder in them to make sure it disconnects since it doesn’t always fully melt, kinda like using an electromagnet.

        There’s also even Actual resetable fuses too

          I like the gunpowder fuses because there is no question whether they are good or not. Exploded = bad, not exploded = good

          Also that reusable fuse would have been so useful in my 1989 Nissan
