“Pulau Blakang Mati” roughly translates to “the island behind which lies death.” Of course that’s where scientists would find a deadly new animal.

    To add to this, it’s Sentosa Island in Singapore. It was renamed in the 70’s, presumably because “death island” was putting off tourists.
