Managed to build up some of my efforts again. Did a few days very intensive learning. Probably shouldn’t have gone too ham as I’m already feeling burnt out. It’s always encouraging to hear peoples journeys though, it ends up helping keeping me going throughout the whole period I’ve been studying, especially during burnouts. Additionally, talked to my GF about some stuff lately, we decided it might be good to put some efforts on hold (at least reduced) (both me and her) to adjust to a few things that otherwise need to be picked up. This is good news for both of us, nothing major, but good news. And we’ll both be focusing more on combining our efforts to push for this certain thing. Don’t want to get too into details, sorry for the mystery. But yeah, languages will be pulled back for a while. At least a short while, to see what’s what.
Edit: Still plan on doing the hr in Japanese a day, so there’s that.
Got to spend the week in Japan after doing a little refresh. I lived there for a year about 15 years ago. Was able to use it for practical things but not conversation, so that gives me something to work towards going forward. It’s mostly vocab that’s missing, but grammar is still mostly intact. And I didn’t really have to think too hard about it; the things were either there or not. Also noticed I have less of a delay in processing what I do understand compared to English.
The technology has changed so much since I was learning it. Huge kanji dictionaries gave way to electronic dictionaries gave way to phones.
Yeah, I was there in 2004, would have loved having jisho.org and kanji OCR in my pocket back then for everyday use. Let alone all the learning aids.
Been doing more new kanji this week and watching some more Japanese YouTube videos. Better than usual for me, I suppose. n_n;
I also started watching through the Deutsch Welle alphabet videos. Want to start taking some baby steps in German.
Just started week 4 with it, and I’m already seeing amazing progress in Shin Kanzen Master N2 Grammar already. So far, this book has absolutely lived up to the high praise it gets. I’m actually looking forward to grammar study every day. Inconceivable thought just six months ago with Tobira.
Everything else is moving smoothly. No more planning, just doing the work. Still going to be concerned about listening comprehension for a while until I hit a couple benchmarks with it (hopefully soon), but vocab and kanji are proceeding apace.
