You might remember the recent big waves of takedowns on Mangadex. Kakao is believed to be the company largely responsible (I don’t think it is official anyway); and now they are completely leaving the North American market.
Another thing to note is that a lot of official manga apps are tracking nightmares. Kodansha’s app, KManga, has more trackers than FACEBOOK. What’s up with that? And the Shounen Jump app had about 90% of the trackers that Facebook has.
When I found out I dumped my Shounen Jump subscription and deleted both apps. There’s no reason to treat paying customers like that
