Gennadiy Tsygan knows how expensive it is to build a home in the United States. That’s why he imported almost everything for his dream house from China.

Most of his home fixtures were imported directly from over two dozen factories, and Tsygan — an engineer in Baltimore — flew halfway around the world in 2024 to choose some of those products.

I would absolutely order a house kit from catalog that contains everything I need to build the house. Sears and Roebuck style.

Bonus points if it contains tools I can use to mill my own lumber. I’ve always wanted a plot of land where I can plant trees for harvesting wood to make small houses here and there.

There are a number of companies that offer something similar to what you want. Basically factory built homes that are shipped out in modules and parts that are assembled on site.
