His video on Yugoslavia was top notch (and got complimented by Yugopnik) but his stance on SMO and China is obviously very different from the Lemmygrad line. He does make some interesting points though, which I think are better articulated and evidenced in material reality than the usual ultra-left nonsense. I would love to read how more knowledgeable comrades would engage with his points (not just handwave them away as idealist).
I will leave it to others to respond to the videos you linked because i don’t have the time to go through them right now. I will just give some background on who this person is:
Syomin is part of a very marginal and extremely unpopular pseudo-Marxist fifth column in Russia. His entire position when you strip it of Marxist phrase-mongering boils down to “Russia bad”.
He supports the extremely problematic Greek KKE party, which also promotes the idiotic “double imperialism” theory, and has equated Russia with Banderite Ukraine. He once said:
“Class struggle is always more important than repelling the aggression of someone else’s imperialism. First, the Fatherland must be taken away from internal enemies, and only then protected from external”
According to his logic, it turns out that the socialist revolution in Russia should occur after defeat from an external enemy, apparently, under the conditions of NATO occupation?
It was one of the most shameful episodes in the history of the Deprogram podcast that they invited this person to speak on behalf of Russian communists instead of anyone representing the KPRF, who are actually the main communist force in Russia.
Russian Marxist publications have written a few exposeés about him and his inconsistent and incoherent positions:
Syomin and Donbass: a story of betrayal
Konstantin Syomin as a mirror of Russian Internet opportunism
“Class struggle is always more important than repelling the aggression of someone else’s imperialism. First, the Fatherland must be taken away from internal enemies, and only then protected from external”
If the chinese communists had the same views, we would not have a China right now.
Precisely.
It goes without saying that this is ultra-leftist nonsense.
This person sounds to me like a Trotskyist if i’m being honest. Either that or they are an outright CIA asset. Apparently they spent a lot of time in the US, including four years that are unaccounted for in their biography as far as anyone can tell, and their family lives there. Convenient to advocate for a civil war at a time when the country is under imperialist threat, and if things go to shit in Russia he can just go to the US…
The first thing he does in the first video posted by OP is going to Florida lol. I’ll try watching it entirely.
