They’re endangered in the wild and will go extinct in the next 10-20 years. With no native habitat to return to even if we wanted to release them. They would never survive anywhere else so it’s not a issue of them become invasive, still not good though. There might be a few remote isolated spots that could support them, but those are too sensitive to introduce a nonnative species just to save it. The future of axolotls is in labs and peoples aquariums.
