Back in 2018 I played Spec Ops the Line on my Xbox One. I do not remember ever owning the disc version and vaguely remember I bought it for cheap digitally.
I know the game was delisted, but I remember hearing that was just bad news for people who wanted to buy it after the delisting. For those who purchased a license we could continue to download and play it.
Fast forward and I wanted to give it another go so I found it on the store. Store front Spec Ops the Line Page says “You own this game” and I was able to install it to my Xbox Series S. Install looks successful (6.1GB, etc).
When I try to launch the game the Xbox gives me a message “Do you own this game or app?” and to sign in etc. (I am signed in) Tried deleting and reinstalling, etc. Same thing.
Do I need to restore my license or something? When I look at my order history from 2018 I do not see the purchase. However I know I played it (I have unlocked acheevos) and the MS Store says “You own this game” and lets me install.
Any suggestions before I try talking to MS (and probably just being told “Sorry, it is delisted so nothing we can do…?”
Is the device set as your home Xbox? Do you see the game in your Games & Apps -> full library -> owned games?
I am pretty sure I am on my home Xbox but I didn’t confirm this. I’ll check.
I do not see the game in full library > owned games, but I’m not sure if delisted game would show there? It only shows I own the game when I visit Spec Ops the Line page in the store.
Delisted games that you own are in the list as well. I have Spec Ops: The Line in my list is owned games and it’s installable through there.
Thanks. I’ve double checked that I am on my home Xbox and tried signing in and out a few times as well as redownloading from Web store but still no luck. Looks like I’ll have to contact MS. Appreciate your replies though.
Good luck! I hope it gets resolved.
