The only of the National Labs who’s dedicated purpose was renewable energy is being refocused to energy for AI centers. NREL is where those giant wind turbines were first developed, and the most efficient solar panels, and so much more. The reason renewable energy is so cheap is largely because of the science being done at NREL.

    I’m infuriated.

In a complete shock to nobody, ex oil exec is appointed to head of renewable energy agency and promptly re-writes the mission of renewable energy agency to research not-renewable-energy.

      You got it exactly right

      edit:
Her Department of Energy department was named “Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy”, e.g. EERE. This department is a large funder of research at NREL. This department was renamed last week to: “Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation” e.g. CMEI

        Energy Innovation

We’ve innovated! Now we have the technology to burn 10x more oil in everyday applications with no additional efficiency!
