    The problem though is that the DNC and the establishment Democrats, and Schumer and Jeffries most notably, are backed by the same moneyed interests who are backing Trump, and they don’t want him to fail.

    So the Democrats are going to put up just enough resistance to maintain the illusion of opposition, but not enough to actually stop him. As Trump gets weaker, it’s going to be more difficult for them to manage to fail to actually stop him while maintaining the illusion, but they can do it. Hell - they even mostly managed to fail to accomplish anything when they had the White House and a Congressional majority (and not coincidentally, they already have Fetterman and Cuellar lined up to play the roles Sinema and Manchin played then).

      Deleted my post because you said it better. Controlled opposition needs to maintain the illusion of opposition while not actually opposing anything.
