    I love it when people say the most obvious of obvious things as if it was a brand new discovery:

    A similar situation is taking place at sea: international maritime law is being violated, merchant ships are being fired upon, and trade routes are becoming unsafe, which can be described as a “true return to the era of piracy,” according to Perincek.

      The framing of those methods as “pre-capitalism” is strange, embargoes and violence have continously been used in this era against governments of countries that go against capitalist order

        Yeah the pre-capitalism bit oozes unseriousness. All these methods were very explicitly carried out by imperialist powers after capitalism essentially saturated their domestic markets and they set out to conquer foreign markets. Nothing about these methods is “pre-capitalism”

        Perhaps a more apt phrase would be the end of neoliberal globalization. That was the ultimate streamlining of capitalist exploitation of the third world. And that is what is coming to an end as alternate powers emerge from the third world.

      Western imperialism resorts to pre-capitalism methods

      I know we have to sometimes pick our battles but I fucking hate this nonsense, this whole techno-feudalism-this-isn’t-proper-capitalism nonsense. And the more I read Marx the less I can tolerate the likes of proudhonist anti-marxism such as Hudson.
