8·8 days agoRight, so in a country where pretty much everyone is forced to drive everywhere no matter what, Kansas has not only stripped Transgender people of that ability, but also forced them to carry IDs that identify them as transgender people.
Wasn’t that literally something the Nazis did? They too, banned Jews from driving or using public transport, and of course, forced them to carry thing that identified them as Jews.

News@lemmy.world•Edinburgh tomb of philosopher David Hume vandalised with ‘satanic’ symbolsEnglish
4·9 days agoBallsy to be an atheist in a place like 18th century Scotland! I don’t think I can understate just how religious Scotland was back in the day, and how Presbyterian it was. Christmas didn’t become an official Holiday here until 1958, Boxing day wasn’t an Official Holiday until 1974. The reason why Hogmanay is such a big thing here (it’s basically our national Holiday) was because Pre-Reformation, people when mad on Christmas. When the Reformation happened, that stopped (because Christmas “wasn’t biblical”), so everyone moved their festivities to New Years Eve.

News@lemmy.world•Edinburgh tomb of philosopher David Hume vandalised with ‘satanic’ symbolsEnglish
11·9 days agoSo (not so) fun fact, Hume was an atheist and when he died people had to guard his tomb to stop people wrecking it for him being an atheist.
Really horrible. Old Carlton cemetery is a cool place to go.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Do you use Arch btw? Best Arch distro?English
6·10 days agoI use plain Arch, but if you are just gonna use it as a media center, use Debian or something like it. A media center doesn’t need to be up to date if you’re just using it for TV and retro gaming. However, how mediocre are we talking? Are you intending to run full steam games or are you planning on streaming them from another computer?
If the latter, I think Debian or even a healthy rPi running RetroPie might be up your alley because you can install Kodi and SteamLink on that.
