  • Don’t worry, more and more banks are going to apps where they “outsource” all security to Apple and Google on their respective phone OS security implementation. At least on android, the apps will detect if accessibility functions (and developer’s options) are turned on and will refuse to run the app. Who even needs accessibility right? Like there’s no less able bodied people using smartphones. And what’s that? It’s your phone? No, silly customer, we banks must protect you from getting scammed by policing your device. It’s the bank’s property. You bought that phone on financing anyways, so it really isn’t your property.

I am definitely not angry at this outcome. I bought my phone fair and square

  • Disclaimer: am not American nor Western

I remember this day. Was a wee lad. We were on vacation. The TV was on and apparently it was the news. I don’t remember if it’s breaking news but it might not be, since we’re 12 ish hours different time zones, and I remember seeing it at day time.

Well, back then I thought it was a movie…

And the eerie part was that my dad had just gotten back home from a business trip there just a few days before.

  • If android is truly getting locked down, I’ll just get the cheapest smartphone I can get because everything here in my country needs their own smartphone app for their own 2FA and they all want Play Integrity. It’s getting really annoying to bypass all these asinine roadblocks on my fucking phone.

Banks and online shopping apps can get bent policing my phone.

And I’ll just carry a small Linux laptop to do all my other internet and computing needs. Shit’s fucked up. And carry a Faraday bag just for the phone.
