Canada@lemmy.ca•Ticketmaster delists Ontario resale tickets after omnibus budget bill passed
12·2 months agoWatch them scalp from the original price.
-
You buy a ticket for 100 plus 20 in “processing fees”.
-
Then you go and resell it for 100, and you can’t claim back the 20 on processing fees.
-
Ticket master then sell the tickets for you but take 50 for the sale “for processing”.
-
And then whoever bought the tocket gets chargea 20 in process fees as well.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Doug Ford’s PCs vote to end access to political officials’ records
472·2 months agoURGENT: Write to the Lieutenant Governor demanding her withhold the FOI ban!
While Bill 97 passed, it still needs to receive Royal Assent, which the Lieutenant Governor does.
It may be worth contacting her.
Just copy/paste the message below to this link: https://lgontario.ca/en/connect/contact/
Feel free to do your own message if you prefer.
Your Honour,
I am an Ontario resident deeply concerned about the state of our democracy. I urge you to withhold consent of Bill 97 .
Our premier is making a law to stop him from complying with an order from the Court to hand over his phone records.
This is infringement on our rights as Canadians and taxpayers under the constitution.
Such shady changes to Freedom of Information should never receive Royal Assent.
I implore you to do the right thing for the people of Ontario, and do what is ethical and just and withhold this bill.
Kind regards,
[your name]

Canada@lemmy.ca•Please Advise! What’s with Politicians’ Love of Private Jets? | The Tyee
12·2 months agoEuropean politicians frequently use trains and buses for commuting and travel, often as a show of normalcy, environmental commitment, or efficiency. Not Dougy though, he has his own personal driver and Chauffeur.
Here’s some photos in a article.

I wonder what public funded service will get shut down next as a result of lost tax revenues not being collected by the government.
Remember taxes fund public services like road repair, traffic light maintenance, sidewalk clearing, schools, hospitals, libraries.
On top of this with the tax pause I doubt a regular consumer will see a substantial price difference at the pump, seem like the price will stay the same and profits will only increase for shareholders.

We can definitely ween ourselves off gas and go full in on electric if we had the desire, solar, wind, hydro, and battery storage to top it off.

7·2 months agoGuess this explains why Fords pushing for the expansion of the downtown airport.
Saves him a trip from Person Airport to Queens Park
Could also explain why he wants that tunnel under the 401, so he can get into Toronto from the Airport quicker.

16·2 months agoIf that basketball court were a parking lot it would have been completed long ago, and probably would be being re-paved right now.
Kind of similar to how sidewalks get closed or torn up for months on end without a pedestrian detour, but a roadway get closed for a day because of construction and reopened the next day as if nothing ever happened.

38·2 months agoSo… could I not just disconnect my pc from the internet, or have a desktop or virtual machine without internet access, keep my 3d printer offline, and use a software or 3d modeling software that’s open-source, and profit?
This bill has also just classified my ice tray as a 3D printer, and don’t tell anyone but a trip to my local Home Depot with 10 bucks in my hand could potentially make something more dangerous.
