Reading the bill, I don’t think this is true (but IANAL). But, it’s an opportunity for this…

The researchers responsibly disclosed FROST to Google, Apple, and Mozilla before publishing. The responses are worth reading carefully:

• Google said it does not consider browser fingerprinting to be a security vulnerability.

• Apple described the attack as “currently out of scope,” with possible mitigations in the future.

• Mozilla acknowledged the findings but has not implemented any fix.

In other words, the three companies that ship some of the world’s most-used browsers have collectively said “ok, not my concern”.

This isn’t entirely true. Apple and Google said “piss off”, but Firefox acknowledged the issue, but don’t yet have a solution, which doesn’t mean they aren’t working on one. It is bad, though, that they haven’t come up with something during the responsible disclosure timeline.

I’ve been using SayBoard, but it was like transcribo where it was it’s own thing. A bit annoying flipping back and forth, but I did it for privacy.

And be careful trusting an app on stock android versions, Samsung, or another android with Google play services. They can share the data they were going to send directly (but now can’t due to firewall rules) with GPS, which will relay that for them.

I’ve been using FUTO keyboard for a couple days, and I like it more than Helis. Just adding another option, and not at all saying one is better than the other. It has pretty good swipe and stt out of the box. But it’s not, strictly speaking, OSS (it’s source-available).

Edit. Tried anyway. SA is still better than Gboard (even firewalled). Swipe worked all but two hours, and promptly failed. The swipe action still works on the keyboard, but will not write text on the input. Cool while it lasted, but a keyboard needs to input longer than two hours. I’ll still going to keep testing it. I like it better than Gboard, even without the swipe working properly.
