Qobuz library is shite though. I’d switch in a heartbeat to Qobuz or Deezer if they had comparable libraries but as it is I maintain a subscription to a streaming service solely to rip tracks for my library / to share on soulseek so Spotifys library trumps everything else still unfortunately.
Might wanna know that I tested Deezer and realized their offline download is absolute dogwater when it comes to bigger playlists, so that really sucked.
I now use tidal and I am content, not more and not less. Could have gone on testing other services but Pandora was not available, qobuz was not relevant for me, YouTube music is almost as bad with artist payout, …
Good to know for the future, thanks! Did it at least supply you with a good quality flac as that is the main draw away from Spotify for me currently as I can only get 320 mp3s from Spotify.
Tidal is the only one I haven’t checked the library for so far but to be honest my expectation is low as the artists I listen to never list tidal as a streaming service they use. Mainly Spotify and rarely deezer is what I tend to see.
YouTube music has great selection but trash quality.
I always hear people saying this about non Spotify platforms, but I don’t quite see it. I literally just dropped Deezer for Qobuz, and it migrated (via Soundiiz) my favorited tracks and artists (of which there were hundreds), and every single one of them was found on Qobuz. It certainly is possible, but I have extremely eclectic music tastes, so if my tracks existed, I’m skeptical that their library is that bad. I guess maybe if you only listen to deep cuts from a single genre it might be more noticeable. However, the best way to get them to add more music is to support them.
I still buy CDs for all my favorite artists and rip them to Plex anyways, so if something was missing from Qobuz it wouldn’t be such a big deal.
The literal first two albums I looked for when I went to test the service weren’t there. Their library sucks compared to Spotify, unfortunately. Might just be genre specific but that doesn’t help people like me.
Spotify isn’t immune though, they don’t even have Loveless.
🤣 No linux 🐧 support tho 🤯
kthxbyyyyyyyyyyyye
Their Windows app works just fine with Wine. Requires some tinkering to make it work, though.

Is there a benefit to using the app compared to a browser window?
The web app doesn’t support gapless playback. Some albums are just one long continuous stream of sound, with no gaps in-between songs. The web app forces small pauses between songs, which is annoying when listening to such albums. Also, the keyboard’s media keys might not work with the web app. And, if you are an audiophile, you might care about bit-perfect playback. Using a browser doesn’t guarantee that, but I don’t know if you get that with the desktop app either, when used with Wine.
Got it. As a software guy, I don’t think gapless is impossible to implement in a web app. I guess they’re just not focusing on the web app as much.
Will that make it work with MPRIS?
Not entirely sure what MPRIS is, but the Qobuz app does respond to media keys (Play/Pause, Next, etc.) of my keyboard under KDE.
Just run the player in your browser
Browser is fine as long as you don’t need gapless playback.
Meanwhile some of us never left Pandora
Do they still do the rhing where they categorize songs based on hyperspecific tags? I loved that.
… Is this an ad
